Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is easily one of my top five churches in the world. Especially the Lower Church. So so so beautiful.

Remembering the church fire
When the fire broke out, the famous church bell (Pummerin) fell down and broke. They replaced it seven years later with a new one.

The Lombards took the columns, capitals etc from the Romans, and assembled them into a new church ;-) Unfortunately, the church was quite damaged in the 2016 earthquake and is closed for visitors now.
